Last Wednesday, December 4th, the College of Commissioner Generals of Expo Milan 2015 was constituted and its Steering Committee was elected. The Chair Person of the Committee, Ms Albina Assis Africano, Commissioner General of the Pavilion of Angola, was elected unanimously.
The Steering Committee, composed of about 20 – 30 BIE Member States and well-balanced geographically, is an important element in World Expos. Its mission is to adequately represent all the Commissioner Generals of the Expo in issues of common concern before and during the Expo. It will therefore ensure the regulations of the BIE are properly followed. It will find solutions, with the Organizer of the Expo and the BIE, to the issues of common interest raised by the College of Commissioner Generals. And it will also play an important role in advising the Organizer on the running of the Expo.
The Committee meets every 3 months before the Expo and then every month during the event in order to rapidly solve the questions raised by the participants. It can also hold extraordinary meetings at any time during the Expo. The next meeting for Expo 2015’s Steering Committee is planned for January 2015.
